4. Did you see…

…David Serchuk’s article in on 08/24/2009?  The title is “Shareholders Win When Employees Are Motivated” and claims to show that firms with motivated employees outperform their peers.

Sure, I know what you are thinking – another paper promoting HR principles and trying to relate them to the financial bottom line.  Yes, except, there is a 7 year study of over 800 companies proving this claim.  The study, directed by Dr. Palmer Morrel-Samuels, was conducted by the Workplace Research Foundation in cooperation with The University of Michigan titled: “The National Benchmark Study: Employee Motivation Affects Subsequent Stock Price.”

If you are a true believer in Participative Management, Workforce Commitment, and Employee Engagement then you can just sit back and say “See, I told you so.”  If this finding startles you, then you need to reconsider how you view and value your employees.

Doing the right thing can be profitable as well.  So, what do you think?

PS.  I will probably have more to say on this later, but I wanted to get this notice out quickly
